Since its launch, the Cancer Center Informatics Society has led the way in organizing targeted symposia, workshops, and initiatives, initially focusing on the transformative potential of Core Facilities and Shared Resources. Now, we are making the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in oncology a top priority. We recognize the revolutionary impact AI is having on cancer research, diagnostics, and treatment, while also emphasizing the need for strong governance to ensure its ethical, transparent, and responsible use. Addressing key areas such as data privacy, algorithmic transparency, bias reduction, and patient safety is essential to align AI technologies with both clinical and ethical standards.

AI-enabled curation is equally crucial, as it efficiently organizes and analyzes vast biomedical datasets to enable more precise, personalized treatments. By automating data extraction and interpretation, AI enhances decision-making, streamlines workflows, and accelerates the adoption of precision oncology. Together, AI governance and curation ensure that these advancements in oncology are both effective and accountable.

As the first national network of NCI-Designated Cancer Centers to establish a multi-institutional alliance focused on the education and practical challenges of AI within cancer centers and core facilities, we invite you to join our network, participate in targeted initiatives, attend monthly calls and live webinars, and contribute to our working groups.  Help us pave the road and join the working group at the Spring of 2025 Workshop in San Diego.
